Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1st and 2nd to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away. Families create colorful altars, or ofrendas, decorated with photos, candles, marigolds, and favorite foods of the deceased to welcome their spirits back for a brief visit.
