Why Faith Exchange?
Interfaith Atlanta is dedicated to building bridges across religious differences in the Atlanta area, promoting dialogue and respect for one another. One of the greatest barriers between people of diverse religious traditions is unfamiliarity with each other's practices—what sacred rituals actually look like from the outside looking in. Many interfaith initiatives focus on discussion alone, but few offer participants the chance to respectfully witness one another's lived traditions.
Faith Exchange Days close that gap. Through structured opportunities to observe, share hospitality, and talk openly, participants learn what a weekly service looks like from the inside—and get the chance to explore similarities, differences, and the everyday role religion plays in the lives of Atlanta locals.
What to Expect
Each Faith Exchange Day brings a small group (10–20 people) to a host congregation for one of their weekly services. The day will include:
A pre-service conversation (30 minutes) covering etiquette, practice, and belief, so visitors feel prepared and respectful
Participation in the service (1-2 hours) alongside the host congregation
A post-service discussion (30 minutes) for visitors and hosts to ask questions and reflect on the experience together
Once you're registered, we'll follow up by email with everything you need to know beforehand—appropriate dress, arrival time, and directions to the host congregation. Your host and someone from Interfaith Atlanta will meet you at the congregation so you know exactly where to go once you get there.

Do I need to belong to a specific faith or have religious background to participate?
Not at all! Faith Exchange Days are open to anyone curious about learning more about other faith traditions, regardless of your own beliefs or background. Whether you're deeply rooted in a tradition or don't practice any faith at all, you're welcome to join.
How do I sign up for a Faith Exchange Day?
You can register for any upcoming Faith Exchange Day through our sign-up form on the event page. You're welcome to attend as many exchange days as you'd like—come to one, or explore several different traditions throughout the program.
Will I be expected to participate in the entire service, or can I just observe?
You're welcome to simply observe if that's more comfortable for you. The pre-service conversation will walk you through what to expect, including any moments of participation, so you can decide what feels right for you in the moment. Our hosts understand that visitors are there primarily to learn and experience, not to engage in practices that aren't their own if they do not want to.
Is there a fee associated?
No! Faith Exchange Days are completely free to attend. However, you will need to coordinate your own transportation to and from the host site.
What should I wear?
Dress expectations vary by congregation and tradition, so we'll email you specific guidance ahead of your visit—along with timing details and directions—once you've registered for an exchange day.
Can my congregation host a Faith Exchange Day?
We would love to have many different congregations host Faith Exchange Days in the future. If you think your congregation would be a great place for an interfaith group to attend you can fill out the “Interested in Hosting?” form below and we will be in touch if we think that your congregation is a good fit for the program.
